How to take a good photo

Turning your kid’s art into posters is a great way to store and organize kids artworks.

You just need to take a good photo, Child Art Print will help with the rest.

It is excellent if you have a photo camera to take a picture with, but your phone camera will also work just fine in most cases.

However, consider if your camera allows good enough resolution when ordering large posters (70x100 cm). If you have doubts, contact us and we will help you through the process.

For better results, please follow the advice below.

Light conditions when photographing your child’s artwork

Take the picture in the natural daylight if possible, however, make sure to avoid intense direct sunlight as it can distort the colors and make the photo overly dramatic. Take it outside if possible or near the window to ensure even lighting.

If you must use artificial light, make sure it is as white as possible and is not directed from one side. Several light sources that are distributed evenly will help you to get better quality when taking a photo.

Do NOT use the flashlight.

Angle

Take the picture as level as possible to ensure that drawing dimensions are not distorted.

Format and size

Take pictures of the best available quality for you and upload them in full size without compression.

Crop before uploading

Crop uneven edges or parts of the picture you do not want to include in the print area. Once the photo is uploaded, our photo editor will automatically adjust it to the layout of your chosen product to achieve the best print results.

Editing the picture of your kid’s artwork

We don’t recommend you edit the photos before uploading unless you have some photo editing experience. You might add a bit of exposure to your photo if it looks too dark, but you cant achieve a better result with natural light. But do not overdo it, keep it subtle. We will edit your final design for the best results so that you and your child can get the best art print.

How does it work?

Go from Doodles to Masterpieces in just 3 steps:

Step 1: Take a photo of your kid’s drawing in good natural light, for example next to a window with plenty of daylight and make sure you camera is at level and as close to the drawing as possible.

Step 2: Choose poster layout you like the most and start designing in our editor by uploading the photo of the original drawing and customizing the text. You can always switch to another poster layout by choosing designs in Design field of our editor.

Note that poster preview is only provisional and is not the final art print design.

Step 3: Once you place the order, we get busy. We professionally edit to highlight originality of the drawing while removing all imperfections, thus empowering your kid’s creativity to shine like true art.

Once final design is ready, we email it to you for approval. At this point you can submit additional corrections until you are 100% happy with the result.

After your approval we print your stunning art print and ship it to you.

My picture is cropped in a way I don’t like and I can’t move it. Will it be printed this way?

Don’t worry if some important element of the drawing is cut out or cropped in the preview.

Firstly, you can leave a note in the comments field to ask us to include and/or remove certain parts of the drawing.

Secondly, when you place the order, we receive full picture and we will resize and edit to achieve best printing results.

Thirdly, before printing we always send you an email with the final design for your approval. You can request changes to the design at this point and we will implement them at no cost to make sure you are 100% happy with your print.

Will the placement of the drawing be same as on the preview?

As you can’t yet adjust placement of the photo in our editor, we usually resize and place a photo to achieve best visual results.

What happens during editing process?

We start by removing little imperfections, wrinkles and stains. We correct the light and enhance the drawing to highlight artistic expression of your kids. The photo is placed optimally on your chosen layout.

If you ordered an Art Book, we layout all the art and design the book.
